The Winston-Salem Police Department is asking for help to identify a larceny suspect, in connection to fight at a downtown bar that injured a security guard.

Winston-Salem Crime Stoppers posted a photo on Facebook showing the suspect. They said security footage shows a man went behind the bar and stole several items.

Authorities said this new information comes after a fight involving 20 people on Saturday.

Officers say at around 1:30 a.m., they responded to a call regarding a fight at the Thirsty Pallet Bar in downtown Winston-Salem. Officers said when they arrived, all parties left the scene.

After investigating, they say that a verbal altercation between two people happened, which led to the fight. During the fight, one of the security guards was brutally attacked, including being punched, kicked, and hit with multiple chairs, according to police. The security guard was taken to the hospital for their injuries.

"I think it's time to hold these people accountable," said Eric Zyglis, the owner of the Thirsty Pallet. "It's unfortunate the way that this all obviously played out. The biggest thing is I'm happy that things didn't escalate even worse, and that my employees and most of the guests are making a full recovery and can move forward on this."

Zyglis called the entire situation "unfortunate." However, he’s thankful that the security guard injured in the fight has made a quick recovery. He says after Saturday, his employees have received an outpouring of community support, and steps are being taken to discourage future ones.

"Rest assured, we are actively working to identify and arrest the individuals involved in this violent act," said Winston-Salem Police Chief William H. Penn Jr. "We are always going to use the tools in our hands — the tools available to us — to keep the community safe. We will not accept this type of lawlessness in our City."

Anyone with any information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Winston-Salem Police Department at 336-773-7700, Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800, or En Espanol at 336-728-3904.
